Juniors

We have over 100 juniors aged between 5 and 18 years. Junior membership at the Grove is open to absolutely anyone, regardless of standard.

The club runs coaching sessions during term time, tennis camps during the Easter and summer holidays and also hosts the Grove LTA Open Tournament in August. The club is also involved with local schools. The coaches are available to visit local schools to offer free taster sessions and the children are invited to come to the club for coaching.

The juniors play in the local Chelmsford & District (doubles) and Essex Junior League (singles and doubles) on Saturdays. There is a Club Junior Tournament with finals day and barbeque in September. Juniors who achieve intermediate standard are invited to play in adult matches and social sessions.

Mini Red and Orange Tournaments – Monday 6 May and Monday 27 May
2pm – 5pm (mini red)
2pm – 6pm (mini orange)

Slazenger Grove (Chelmsford) LTC Junior Tournament (ESS119)

Over 60 competitors took part in the 2012 tournament, with more than 100 matches played over the four days.  The players ranged from those who enter almost 10 tournaments a year to some for whom this was their first ever experience of a Junior Tournament. The tournament was played in great spirit with no incidents; despite a bit of a downpour in the middle of the week getting some of the competitors rather damp.  Thanks to all those who took part in the tournament and to those who gave up their time during the week to help.
